Why does my dog scratch after a bath?
AU-Q-MIA Pet Salon · 3 min read
Many pet parents feel worried when their dog starts scratching right after a bath. The first thought is often: is it the shampoo? The grooming? The fragrance?
Here's the thing: in most cases, the bath itself isn't the cause. A bath removes dirt, dander and loose hair, which can briefly expose an itch that was already there, from dry skin, allergies, or the start of an irritation.
That's actually useful. A good groomer notices these things. Our certified groomers check the skin and coat during every service and will text you photos if they spot a rash, hot spot or dryness, so you can act early.
Skin-safe, hypoallergenic products and a gentle, thorough dry make a big difference. For dogs prone to dryness, a deep conditioning or hydration add-on soothes the skin and reduces post-bath itch.
Worried about your dog's skin? Ask Mia or book a visit and our groomer will take a close, caring look.
