Pricing details, policies & senior pets

All prices are based on each dog's size, length and breed, and are a starting reference. Final price may change with coat condition, grooming difficulty, and how long it has been since the last professional groom.

Fancy, stylized and fluffy haircuts cost more, due to the extra time required.

For breeds with hair longer than 1.5 inches, an additional $30 may be added to the base price.

Grooming matted and hard-to-handle dogs takes longer and costs more. The price does not include a de-matting or severe shave session. If a pet needs de-matting to finish the groom and the owner declines it, we cannot proceed with a basic bath, as the final result would not be done properly.

We recommend a regular grooming schedule of every 2 to 4 weeks to reduce costs and make grooming more enjoyable for your pet. Prices are estimates, subject to change, set to each situation and need.

Senior pets & health

As a mobile service, we do not accept senior pets over 12 years old without prior discussion, and we do not accept pets with pre-existing health conditions.

How do I make an appointment?

Booking is simple: tell Mia in the chat what your pet needs, or use the Book button to pick a time and fill in your details. For follow-ups, use our booking page. Keep your mobile number on file so we can text you updates.

What areas do you serve?

We are fully mobile across the Bay Area, from San Francisco to San Jose and the Tri-City East Bay. Confirm your ZIP with us or ask Mia before booking.

May my appointment be delayed?

Because we travel between homes, we may run up to 1 hour behind due to traffic and each pet's needs. We text you updates, so please allow a window before and after your scheduled time.

How long does grooming take?

It varies with your pet's size, coat and condition. We give you an arrival window and keep you posted by text.

How important is regular grooming?

Very important. A schedule of every 2 to 4 weeks keeps the coat healthy, prevents matting, and lowers your cost over time.

My dog is matted, can you still groom?

Severely matted coats may need a shave-down for your pet's comfort and safety, assessed in person. A de-matting or shave fee may apply, and we do not de-mat senior pets.

Why is mobile grooming more than a shop?

You get one-on-one, cage-free care at your curb in a fully self-contained van, plus travel and setup. Your pet is never left waiting in a kennel.

Do you do nails only?

Yes. Nail service is $80 and includes ears, paws and glands. Cat nails only are also $80.

Do you offer teeth brushing?

Yes, it is included in Lux Bath and VIP Haircut as a courtesy, done only if your pet is cooperative. Otherwise we use a breath spray.

How can I pay?

Payment is due at the time of service. Ask Mia for the accepted payment methods.

Do you groom senior pets?

Senior pets over 12 need a prior conversation, and we cannot accept pets with pre-existing health conditions, for their safety as a mobile service.

Can I stay and watch?

For your pet's safety it is best not to interact with them during the groom, an excited pet can be at risk around sharp tools. We hand them back happy as soon as we finish.

Our story

AU-Q-MIA Pet Salon was born in 2010 out of necessity. Our founder, a proud parent to two Shih-Tzus and four Golden Retrievers, could not find a grooming service she fully trusted with her own pets. She channeled that passion into building a salon she could trust, and with the support of her partners and a professional grooming course, laid the foundation for what AU-Q-MIA is today.

Innovation & growth

The journey did not stop there. With a well-crafted business plan, our founder transformed the salon into a mobile service, bringing top-notch grooming curbside across the Peninsula Bay Area in 2019. As an AKC Groomer Safety Salon member, we uphold the highest standards of pet health, safety and well-being, with a team trained through the AKC Groomer education. The trust and loyalty of our clients has driven us ever since.
