Why frequent baths matter on rainy days
AU-Q-MIA Pet Salon · 3 min read
When the rainy season hits the San Francisco corridor and the Peninsula, you might wonder: how often should I bathe my dog? It's a common question, especially for owners of poodles, doodles, golden retrievers and shih tzus.
Many people believe frequent baths cause skin problems. For most coats, that's a myth. Rain, mud and moisture trapped in a thick coat are far more likely to cause irritation, odor and matting than a proper bath with the right products.
The key is technique and products. We use hypoallergenic, skin-safe shampoos, fresh warm water, and a full blow-dry and brush-out, so your dog is truly dry to the skin, not damp and prone to matting.
For double-coated and curly breeds, regular baths during the wet months keep the coat healthy, reduce shedding indoors, and prevent the tangles that turn into painful mats.
Not sure what your dog needs this season? Ask Mia, or book a mobile bath and we'll come to you.
