Dog Measurement Chart
To help you understand how to measure your dog, here is a chart with the standard sizes we use for our services. Measure your dog from the floor to the top of the shoulder (the withers).

Size breakdown
SMALL (12" or less)
Example breeds: Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Pomeranian, Maltese, Toy Poodle, Papillon, Russian Toy.
A dog you can hold in the palm of your hand.
MEDIUM (13" to 16")
Example breeds: Bichon, Shih-Tzu, Cavalier, Pug, Mini Schnauzer.
A dog you can pick up, like a Shih-Tzu.
LARGE (17" to 20")
Example breeds: Aussie, Border Collie, Schnauzer, Chow Chow.
Too big to pick up from the floor.
X-LARGE (21" to 27")
Example breeds: German Shepherd, Retrievers, Doodles.
Heavy, like a German Shepherd or Australian Doodle.
XX-LARGE (28" or up)
Example breeds: Bernese, Australian Doodle, Standard Poodle, St. Bernard.
GIANT (over 90 lb)
Example breeds: Any dog over 90 pounds.
Little kids can almost ride it like a pony.
These measurements are approximate and can vary slightly between individual dogs and breed standards.
